Time will bury girls and boys
paint their minds
I was bright– and you were new
I was a poem yesterday
cut my skin– or kiss my mouth,
The notes I sing are always
gray.—and every time you look at me
are nothing much
the bitter kiss
stained your lips
and stole your voice
you’re a stranger.
I’m a ghost.
and i can’t reach
through all your noise
I’d float through all our clouds of smoke
—that’s if I felt I had a choice
Every morning, I feel older
dark nights crawl,
warm days race
–you’re so black and I’m too blue
is such a lonely place.
Every day we wake up dry
in fields too brown for rain to save
–sleep in weeds until we die
–sleep in weeds until we die
For the man who doesn’t need me,
I am a million wanting hands growing from stones
and impenetrable to sprout
anything at all.
Against me, an ocean.
It is a mirror
unconcerned with the self I want to see
I am facing the wrong direction
and so is he.
I am an open mouth
wrinkling for lack of moisture and he is the whale’s tail
fanning warm, salty air against my tongue.
It is then, that wet and dry are the same to a wanting body
is in a difference I refuse to know.
If only I could sink beneath the water
where his eyes are.
Would I know him then?

my hands are
stiffened by the forceful elements
raised up as if ready to punish the space
with a strike.
unable to grasp–
They are unable —
Affection slides off of them.
sharing is lost.

My work is going to be featured in a Los Angeles-based production this spring!
Vanessa Cate, critically acclaimed director, is developing her first independent production. The project,”Cat-Fight”, is an all female show which will explore the complexities of womanhood through a series of vignettes written by Vanessa, myself, Crystal Little Bird Salas, Cheryl Doyle, and Natalie Hyde! It will incorporate poetry, dance, music, scenes, and other performance art.We are all very excited about the project ! Please support if you can, even $1 will be useful!
Over the next couple of days I will be reposting some work that has been selected for the show in an effort to raise funds and draw attention to the project! This is the only official announcement I will post, however. I don’t want to spam anyone! Thank you!
I am not a lesbian. Not really.
but I know what it is to ache for a woman.
To be her smiles and her tears
That she is the truth
To fantasize about feeling her breasts and her belly
About making her cum
About making her feel less lonely
but I am not a lesbian

The problem with blue
is that it
plumps up my lips with
the fatty fluff
until I am a beautiful beast—

The heavy stone tied to my ankle
because you are smooth,
sinking downward with all those lovers still attached.
—–At the very bottom,
My eyes are both closed and open
because who can tell the difference down here?
I cannot breath
I know that waiting is all there is
I’ll let it happen
like you do–
never stopping to resist
dying any time is fine
