Jealous Sea

jealousesea2

the sherbet sky burns over the bruised mountains below

while the jealous sea thrashes about frantically

with watchful swollen eyes

and tired blood that no longer has strength to flood

legs stand

flacid arms fall

faint memories of when we

we were once able

to embrace it all

Life is a fragmented experience

A flurry unfocused

Art creates magnetic moments, drawing us in

pulling us apart

Simultaneously shielding and revealing

Pushing us to relinquish and reclaim

Opposing ideas meet

Brawl

then into one another they bleed

creating a truth beautifully cohesive

No Room for Pierre

No Room for Pierre by Angie Hoover-Hillhouse

I started with the cartoon of the  lonely, french babyman. When he was done, I noticed that his expression was very dreary and  disheartened, so I added the tub filled with others just like him enjoying a group bath. The backgrounds that I drew ended up distracting from the absurdity, so I moved on without completing the piece. I really would like to blow it up and hang it in my kitchen one day.
