With Shades of Heaven in her Eyes

by fyarlgiles

drapes drawn

in peach and white

caress my lips

and shield my eyes

from grisly hell

and growing gloom

til all the world’s

a flowery room

“Blinded by the Light” by Angie Hoover-Hillhouse

Of Lust and War

by fyarlgiles

In the orchids

lies a warrior

gleaming like a ruby torch

come to me

in violent whispers

I will satisfy your thirst

The Wilted Muse

by fyarlgiles

silver seeds of inspiration

drowning in a sea of grey

the keenest eye

is blind to lights

that swim

across its face

and back

Where the viaduct looms like a bird of doom

as it shifts and cracks

Where secrets lie in the border fires

in the humming wires

On a gathering storm comes a tall handsome man

In a dusty black coat with a red right hand

You’re one microscopic cog

in his catastrophic plan

Designed and directed by

his red right hand

The Long Goodbye

by fyarlgiles

sleep a while,

 heavy soul

weary traveler

red and old

bury burdens in the sand

that sleep

will make you whole

The Dragon

by fyarlgiles

breaths of flame

that hunt and sting

wound the wicked

and the pure

for her body,

sheathed in glamor,

lusts for choirs

of agony

pierced and beaten

by the brave

who broke her slumber with their swords

now hate

and scorn

are in the blood

that feeds her heart

and burns for more

The Body

by fyarlgiles

onyx fingers curl

and stretch

through stone and steal

through blood and death

heaven glows in all of her

the sky below

the sea above

coming slowly

like the daylight

orange, red, and yellow flow

all is brilliant

like the morning

worn but strong in clouds of silk

“The Body” by Angie Hoover-Hillhouse

Jealous Sea

by meaghanmerrifield

the sherbet sky burns over the bruised mountains below

while the jealous sea thrashes about frantically

with watchful swollen eyes

and tired blood that no longer has strength to flood

legs stand

flacid arms fall

faint memories of when we

we were once able

to embrace it all

Only Pain will Please the Queen

by fyarlgiles

hands of Bronze and golden voice

she strikes a fear into your bones

a crown of velvet

red and mean

burns shadows

on both

sand and sea

a storm of vicious hell and fire

splits through all she deems unclean

goodbye, goodbye

to joy

to love

for only pain will please the queen

reflect, reflect

my hollow heart

in fields of hot

and yellow death

look out, look out

upon decay

and swallow lumps

of silent calm

we’re two, we’re two

half living parts

that drink in dust

and bow our heads

we’ll crack we’ll crack

but never break

just hang in dusk

for all is lost
