slick puddles of a rainbow destroyed
lay like bubbling ponds
in the boiling August sun.
Waiting patiently
to singe the skin off my feet
and leave in its absence
vibrant, waxy splotches
of fuchsia
and brilliant topaz
that make me New
and young
again
